All of this with a high proportion of women.// \\ ---- === current workshop === ---- **Soldering analogue synthesizers** With: **Mascha Illich** Date: Sat. 18 May 2024, 2 pm Location: STWST Workshop duration: approx. 4 hours ---- This is about the classic soldering of analogue synthesizers. Mascha Illich hacks small commercial synthesisers and creates simple instructions for re-soldering: www.cargocollective.com/noiselab **The basic knowledge about sound generation and soldering will be taught in the workshop.** **Depending on experience, the following synthesisers are offered:** Beginners: oscillator, optical theremin Intermediate: atari punk console, echo/delay, chaos nand Advanced: atari junk console, cosmic echo **A soldering kit is included in the course fee (35 EUR)**. **Looking forward to seeing you at our workshops!** ---- ---- \\ === Past workshops === **Workshop with SULE SUAREZ and MORITZ MORAST** __**ATTENTION, THE WORKSHOP WILL NOT TAKE PLACE +++ THE WORKSHOP HAS TO BE POSTPONED +++ DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.**__ **on 27.4. at 2pm in der STWST/servus.at Clubraum** Kirchengasse 4, 4040 Linz **LIVE CODING with Tidal Cycles** {{:projects:tidal_code_screenshot.png?400nolink|}} In the workshop, Sule and Moritz will go through the installation of the required software packages and the setup of the live coding environment Tidal, Atom + SuperCollider together with the participants. In the further course of the workshop, participants will learn how to create patterns and how to transform them. Tidal Cycles is a programming language for creating musical structures in real time that is connected to the global Algorave scene, which uses code as a musical interface. Tidal Cycles enables the playful use of algorithms, through its simplified language, to create electronic music in real time. Sule Suarez will talk about her creative process with Tidal Cycles. She will give a general context about the software and how it works as well as its potential for creation. **No previous programming knowledge** is required for the workshop! **If you are interested to participate:** Please register via noiselab.linz@gmail.com Workshop cost: 30EUR //**Sule Suárez**// is a multidisciplinary artist fascinated by the intersections of art, technology, and culture. Her artistic practice revolves around creative code, visual and sound generation, allowing me to create immersive experiences that challenge the boundaries of different mediums. She works with live coding software such as Tidal Cycles, Hydra, and p5, using these tools to expand her artistic expressions and explore new creative territories. //**Moritz Morast**// is a musician and artist currently residing in Vienna, Austria. In his works he explores non-linear musical systems through improvisational immediacy and playful spontaneity, unraveling their idiosyncrasies and self-organizing properties. He is interested in the artifacts, overtones, and hidden structures of sounds that are revealed when subjected to high gain distortion and feedback processes. He works solo, as well as in different formations, ranging from free improvisation, extreme metal, and avant-rock, to experimental electronics. He also composes for dance, theater, films and virtual reality. His musical work has been showcased on Festivals like Ars Electronica(Austria), Heart of Noise(Austria), Donaufestival Krems (Austria), Ars Musica (Belgium) and Meme Festival (Spain). http://www.morast.at **Workshop with Zosia Holubowska (Mala Herba)** **on 6.4. at 2pm in STWST/servus.at space** Kirchengasse 4, 4040 Linz **Working with archival samples** During this workshop, sound artist and producer Zosia Hołubowska will share their practice of working with archival samples. The artist specializes in working with Eastern European ethnomusicological archives and will provide both possible sources as well as an introduction to their own philosophy and methodology of research on traditional music. They will share their sources and creative ways to process what can be found online. The artists will focus on creating evolving, emotive textures, using both native effects of Ableton Live, as well as third-party plug-ins. As the meeting is designed as a hands-on workshop, it is advised to bring a laptop with installed Ableton Live and headphones. examples: https://exiles-electronics.bandcamp.com/album/singing-warmia https://holubowska.work/siemieniec Workshop fee: 30EUR Please register: \\ ---- **workshop will be given by Ben Wesch on** **Saturday 9.3.2024 at 2pm in STWST (servus.at clubraum)** UNFORTUNATELY HAS TO BE POSTPONED {{:projects:bildschirmfoto_2024-02-19_um_11.48.57.png?nolink&400|}} Please register under: noiselab.linz@gmail.com Ben Wesch is going to teach us sound synthesis with Pure Data: 1. give a short impression and examples of Pd‘s capabili- ties (embedded devices, complex composition and sound design/physical modelling/AI) 2. provide a basic intro and then 3. spend the main part on building a simple, but complex-sounding synth with each participant.
