Queer Gun Destruction Opera

+++++ OPEN CALL +++++

Under the title “Never in Our Image”, the American artist Stephanie Mercedes is staging the queer gun-destruction opera, this year in collaboration with the Austrian artist Heike Kaltenbrunner – in the framework of STWST84x12 HAUNTED in September 2026.

As part of the creative process and a series of multi-stage workshops, Mercedes and Heike will work with queer performers to develop an adaptation of the opera and stage it.

Stephanie Mercedes and Heike Kaltenbrunner have also designed the new edition of the community currency Gibling, due to be released in June. It will be presented on 17 June at 6 pm in front of the STWST and at Café Strom – including a video link to Mercedes in Washington DC.

We invite all interested performers and artists to attend this Gibling presentation as an opportunity to find out more about the project and meet the artists. We particularly encourage those who are considering taking part in the Gun Destruction Opera workshop in September as performers to come along.

OPEN CALL & Come along for more information! – on Wednesday 17 June at 6.00 pm at the Stadtwerkstatt.
